36Zero were looking to develop a solar powered gateway to provide the communication gateway to their asset tracking system. The initial client for this product happened to be out in a very hot/sunny climate so it was required to utilise solar charging whilst also keeping the electronics as cool as possible. After exploring several options it was decided to have an external solar panel to also provide some shade over the unit. The main body is also modular to keep the assembly common across different applications. This project went from concept through to tooling.
