Xiaomi’s highly automated production facility can churn out a new SU7 electric vehicle every 76 seconds, thanks to advanced smart manufacturing techniques. The brand’s founder, chairman, and CEO, Lei Jun, revealed that the factory is capable of building 40 cars per hour.

More than 700 robots operate in the factory, handling tasks such as installation, inspection, and transportation. In the body shop alone, 20 employees are assisted by 381 robots – eight per workstation, four on each side of the car. These robotic arms expertly manage the doors, setting them in place, tightening bolts, and adjusting hinges.

The robotic arms also handle the front and rear windshields, as well as the panoramic sunroof. From the moment the parts are picked up to when they are assembled onto the car body, the process takes less than 30 seconds – twice as fast as traditional automakers, according to Xiaomi.

This high level of automation and advanced smart manufacturing techniques enable Xiaomi’s production facility to maintain an exceptionally swift pace, rolling out a new SU7 electric vehicle every 76 seconds.
